JOINT BASE LEWIS-MCCHORD INTERPRETIVE SIGNAGE, FILM, AND BROCHURES
HRA’s numerous cultural resources management projects at Joint Base Lewis-McChord (JBLM) have included an interpretive element. As part of a larger mitigation project for anticipated adverse effects to the Garrison Historic District at JBLM, HRA conducted oral histories and collected historic-period and modern photographs, motion-picture film, architectural drawings, and other documents. The materials HRA gathered were used to prepare a comprehensive web page, interpretive signs, and a documentary film about the history of Fort Lewis. HRA also designed and produced a number of interpretive brochures related to Fort Lewis history, including women’s and Native American history, the history of area hop farming, and the construction and use of Madigan Hospital.
