Bob Gardner earned a PhD in environmental history and history of technology from Montana State University. He taught history at Southwestern University, in Texas, for three years and in the History of Science, Technology, and Medicine program at the University of Minnesota for another three years. Bob worked at HRA for a year before taking a position as a Visiting Assistant Professor at UMN and Visiting Scholar at the university’s Institute on the Environment in 2016, returning to HRA in 2019. He has conducted archival research in various federal repositories, tribal headquarters and BIA agency facilities, university special collections, local historical associations, and other archives in multiple states.
At HRA, Bob contributes to the research and writing of reports for environmental contamination litigation support, land and water rights disputes, and Native American natural resource management issues.
