DISCOVERY ROAD BIKEWAY AND SIDEWALKS PROJECT

HRA completed cultural resources investigations for the proposed installation of a bikeway and sidewalks along an existing stretch of Discovery Road in Port Townsend, Washington. The bikeway and sidewalks development comprise an important part of the City of Port Townsend’s Transportation Improvement Plan. To comply with Section 106 of the National Historic Preservation Act requirements in consultation with the Washington State Department of Transportation (WSDOT), HRA conducted archival research, an archaeological inventory, and a historic-period architectural survey within the project’s area of potential effects consisting of the area of the proposed bikeway and sidewalks, in addition to an area set aside for wetland mitigation. HRA recommended that the project would have no effect on archaeological or historic resources.
