ARCHITECTURAL HISTORY PROGRAM LEAD / SENIOR ARCHITECTURAL HISTORIAN – OLYMPIA OFFICE

Chrisanne Beckner has 10 years of experience in the historic preservation field. She joined HRA in 2013 after working previously as both a private preservation consultant and journalist. She specializes in architectural field survey, field photography, archival research, and Section 106 and SEPA cultural resources reporting. A skilled researcher and writer, Beckner prepares historic contexts, eligibility evaluations, effects assessments, nominations to the National Register of Historic Places, and successful tax credit applications. Recently, Chrisanne was the co-principal investigator for the Seattle Olmsted Parks MPD and the associated Lake Washington Boulevard nomination as well as the City of Spokane Parks and Boulevards MPD and Manito Park and Boulevard nomination. One past project won a 2012 Oregon Heritage Excellence Award.

Chrisanne enjoys studying African-American history, armchair traveling with famous Antarctic explorers, and island-hopping in the Puget Sound with her husband and friends.

In 2014, Chrisanne opened HRA’s newest office in downtown Olympia, Washington.
