U.S. ARMY CORPS OF ENGINEERS, BALTIMORE DISTRICT HISTORY UPDATE
HRA historians researched and wrote a 200-page administrative history update of the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers, Baltimore District, covering the years 1974 to 2008. The history explained the district’s transformation from its early focus on flood control and transportation improvement to its emerging environmental missions, such as ecosystem restoration and cleanup of formerly used defense sites. The history also addressed the district’s support of the military in a changing world, as well as its ongoing commitments to civil works, flood control, service to the nation’s capital, and emergency response in the twenty-first century. An Era of Change: A History of the Baltimore District, U.S. Army Corps of Engineers, 1974-2008 was published as a hardbound volume in October 2010.
