DOWNTOWN MISSOULA HERITAGE INTERPRETATION
HRA historians developed content for interpretive kiosks at key locations in downtown Missoula, Montana. Each kiosk explores themes identified in the Downtown Missoula Heritage Interpretive Plan (MDHIP). HRA historians authored the plan in 2020. This project implements the interpretive strategies and dovetails with Missoula’s wayfinding system to create a vibrant and engaging visitor experience. The kiosk at the Missoula Art Museum uses the transformation of the building from a city library to an art museum to connect visitors with a history of cultural appreciation and community engagement. The project involves ongoing collaboration with other heritage partners, including representatives from the Séliš-Ql̓ispé Culture Committee, Missoula Parks and Recreation, and area museums like Fort Missoula. HRA completed two kiosks in 2021 and looks forward to curating more content in Missoula’s vibrant downtown.
