For Women’s History Month, HRA is featuring some of our women employees who contribute to all aspects of the company!

Ela Miljkovic joined HRA in 2023 as part of HRA’s acquisition of Stevens Historical Research Associates. At HRA, Ela provides litigation support for environmental contamination and water rights cases. Outside of the litigation realm, Ela conducts oral histories and writes historical narratives for local, public-facing projects. She earned her PhD in History from the University of Houston in 2020. Her dissertation combined practices from history, anthropology, sociology, and environmental studies to provide insights on natural resource management in Mexico City. As part of her graduate studies, Ela obtained a minor in Public History and worked with several Houston-area historic sites and museums to uncover important stories about the city’s diverse culture and history. Her favorite projects are any that she’s helped write reports for. She also enjoys projects that help her form a better understanding of her environment—she is currently learning a lot about how irrigation developed on the Boise Basin. Currently, her free time is occupied by caring for the various plants she owns and making it through a self-masterminded “pop-culture catchup,” as the Boise office calls it, where she watches movies and TV shows from the 80s, 90s, and early aughts. Say Anything is next up!
