HRA Senior Archaeologist Kelly Derr, in association with colleagues in other disciplines, has published an article, “A collaborative agenda for archaeology and fire science,” in Nature, Ecology, and Evolution. This commentary was the culmination of the authors’ 2021 SAA Anthropogenic Fire and Global Pyrodiversity panel discussion. The article focuses on a multi-disciplinary approach, including a fire ecologist and paleoecologist, to fire history reconstructions and the importance of Indigenous fire practices.
