Joshua Pollarine

Research Historian - Missoula Office

Joshua earned an MA in history from the University of Montana with a focus on military history. His thesis, “Children at War: Underage Americans Illegally Fighting the Second World War,” drew heavily upon oral history interviews and primary source documents, as secondary source material on the subject was, and still is, rare. As a graduate student, Joshua prepared course content for an online graduate course in Pacific Northwest History and served as a graduate assistant for courses in Montana history and the American Civil War.

At HRA, Joshua conducts archival research and writes on a diverse array of subjects, including American military and Native American history, National Park Service administration, and natural resource management. He is one of HRA’s experienced oral history interviewers.

When not in the office, Joshua does his best to take advantage of the countless outdoor recreational opportunities Montana offers.
