Since joining HRA in 2013, Joshua Dinwiddie has been the field director for survey, excavation, and large multi-year construction monitoring projects. He has authored and contributed to numerous technical reports for cultural resources inventories located in Oregon and Washington. His cultural resources experience includes precontact and historic archaeological research; drafting survey and monitoring reports, research designs, monitoring plans, and inadvertent discovery plans; and GIS analysis and data management. He has held excavation permits in Oregon and Washington. He is a Registered Professional Archaeologist, as well as an Oregon State Historic Preservation Office (SHPO) and Washington State Department of Archaeology and Historic Preservation (DAHP) Qualified Archaeologist. Joshua has field experience in Oregon, Washington, California, and Alaska.

Joshua received his BA in anthropology from the University of Montana in 2007, and his MS in anthropology from Portland State University in 2014. His Master’s thesis established a regional chronological framework for the adoption of ground slate hunting implements through the Northwest Coast culture area and explored the link between the adoption of new technologies and subsistence practices.
