HRA historians researched the history of a rural road in western Montana to determine if it was ever managed and maintained as a public thoroughfare. Using a wide range of primary sources—including local, state and federal records—HRA prepared a report with detailed maps to demonstrate that the road was private and had never been maintained by the county. HRA provided deposition testimony and a settlement was reached in the case.
