Fort Lewis National Register Nominations

HRA completed Phase II eligibility evaluations for seven sites on Fort Lewis, Pierce County, Washington, to determine eligibility for the National Register of Historic Places.

Five of these resources were small, late 19th- to early 20th-Century homesteads, one site was a small prehistoric lithic scatter of unknown temporal association, and one site was an early 20th-Century Civil Conservation Corps encampment.

HRA used archival research, historic map interpretation, test units and mechanical trenching to evaluate these resources, as part of the fort's requirement to fulfill Section 110 of the National Historic Preservation Act.
